I’ve been working all through this Triduum – wound up missing the Holy Thursday and Good Friday services. Things were, to use my coworker’s phrase, ‘bonkers’. The perils of working retail during the Holidays, I suppose. This is, incidentally, why my contest posting has been a little bit on the thin side these past days.
But I did manage to attend the Easter Vigil after work at the Cathedral, which did everything to remove the irksomeness of the past 72 hours.
To celebrate, Here’s the chant, ‘Vidi Aquam’. Starting Easter Sunday (which I guess is now today), it replaces the ‘Asperges’ chant sung before every High Latin Mass on Sundays for the rest of Easter.
If you’re interested, this is my missal’s translation:
I saw a stream of water welling forth from the right of the temple, Alleluia: bringing salvation to all those who stood in its course. Thus will they sing Alleluia, alleluia! Ps.117. Give thanks to the Lord for he is kind, and never failing in mercy. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.
I wish you all a blessed Easter.
