So today I bought a Kindle.
After years of sticking only with book books, I finally caved. What brought this on was the
somewhat extremely irksome task of writing a paper on a text which I could only easily get access to as an ebook, thus forcing me to awkwardly toggle between my laptop’s reader and OpenOffice. Plus, a required textbook for another class also turned out to be only accessible electronically, and I’ve grown tired of being glued to this screen for class readings.
It’s pretty spiffy, but I have one complaint: because it’s a piece of technology, I have to be all delicate with it. I like to use books up – writing in them, accidentally spilling coffee/lunch on them, tripping over them, letting them get crushed by other things in my backpack, etc. The cat will sometimes even gnaw on them, though I think that’s taking things a bit too far.
But I can’t do that to my Kindle.
